NRM Unveils 2027 House of Representatives Slate: 'A Movement of Ideas, Not Convenience'

With over 150 candidates cleared by INEC across every geopolitical zone, the National Rescue Movement says its 2027 legislative slate represents the most credible, value-driven alternative Nigeria has seen in a generation — and it is rooted in a 24-pillar Rescue Blueprint, not rhetoric.

NRM Unveils 2027 House of Representatives Slate: 'A Movement of Ideas, Not Convenience'

The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has formally unveiled its slate of candidates for the 2027 House of Representatives elections, following the publication of the final list of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

With candidates cleared in federal constituencies across all six geopolitical zones — from Aba North/Aba South in Abia to Yabo/Shagari in Sokoto, from Lagos Island II to Borno's Askira-Uba/Hawul — the NRM is fielding a national slate that reflects, in the words of the party's National Chairman, Prince Dr. Chinedu Obi, "a movement of Nigerians who believe that the rescue of this country is a task that must be done by people who are prepared to serve — and serve with integrity."

A Party Built on Ideas, Not Convenience

Unlike the political mainstream, the NRM does not recruit candidates by begging, bankrolling or importing defectors. Our candidates paid their own dues, submitted to internal primaries, and are going before the Nigerian people with ideas — not with bags of money or the promise of "stomach infrastructure."

As Prince Dr. Obi put it: "We did not beg anyone to join us. Our candidates are men and women who paid their own dues, submitted to our primaries, and are going before the Nigerian people with ideas. Let this be clear: the NRM is not a party of defectors or a vehicle for political convenience."

Our candidates are drawn from across the country — every state, every region, every walk of life. They include lawyers, engineers, doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, farmers, community leaders and young professionals. Some hold doctorates; others hold only a First School Leaving Certificate. What unites them is not pedigree, but purpose.

The Rescue Blueprint: 24 Pillars, One Vision

The NRM's legislative agenda is not improvised. It flows directly from the Rescue Nigeria Blueprint — a comprehensive 24-pillar national development framework built on five thematic goals:

  1. Foundation of Rescue Governance — anti-corruption, public sector efficiency, and the rule of law
  2. Economic Transformation and Inclusive Prosperity — jobs, industrialization, agriculture, and infrastructure
  3. Human Capital and Social Development — education, health, women, youth, and social equity
  4. Environment, Energy, and Sustainability — power sector reform, climate action, and green growth
  5. Leadership, Justice, and Global Engagement — judicial reform, foreign policy, and diaspora participation

Every NRM legislator in the 10th National Assembly will be expected to advance legislation tied to these pillars — and will be measured against them.

The Honey Bee: Our Symbol, Our Standard

The NRM's logo — a honey bee embossed in a white circle with a golden rim — is not decoration. It is a covenant.

The bee represents:

  • Hard work and diligence
  • Productivity and shared prosperity
  • Selfless service and collective responsibility
  • Loyalty to the national cause
  • Fertility, growth and sustainable development
  • Respect for constituted authority

It does not consume the honey it produces. It labours for the collective — and defends the hive without fear.

"The bee is honoured not merely because it labours, but because it labours for others," the Blueprint explains. "It serves as a provider — a diligent breadwinner whose hard work yields prosperity for the collective good."

That is the standard to which every NRM candidate on INEC's final list has committed.

What Our Candidates Stand For

NRM candidates for the House of Representatives will fight for:

1. A government that serves, not rules.
An end to elite capture. Digitized procurement. Real-time budget tracking. An Independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal with teeth.

2. Jobs, not slogans.
25 million jobs through enterprise development, a Youth Enterprise Fund, agro-industrial hubs, and a National Digital Transformation Programme training one million youths.

3. Rule of law — for everyone, not for the highest bidder.
Judicial independence, digitized courts, expanded legal aid, and alternative dispute resolution that reaches every Nigerian.

4. Shared prosperity — from the grassroots up.
A Decentralized Productivity Model that turns every local government area into a centre of productivity, with fiscal devolution and State Development Commissions.

5. Women and youth — not as spectators, but as leaders.
A minimum of 35% of executive, legislative and judicial positions reserved for women, and 15% of offices reserved for citizens between 25 and 35 years old.

6. Agriculture as the foundation of the economy.
A declaration of a State of Emergency on Agriculture, irrigation schemes, agricultural cooperatives, and a reinvigorated River Basin Development Authority system.

7. Education that actually works.
A declaration of an Education Emergency. Funding raised to 20% of the national budget. Free nursery, primary, secondary and post-secondary tuition in NRM-controlled states. Vocational and STEM education revived.

8. Health for all — not just for the rich.
Universal health coverage. A Health Infrastructure Fund. Upgraded primary health centres. A National Social Welfare Register protecting the aged, disabled, unemployed, and vulnerable.

9. Power that actually powers Nigeria.
20,000 MW of generating capacity. Solar mini-grids. State-level electricity markets. A vision that no community should be left in darkness.

10. A Nigeria that leads Africa — and the world.
An economic diplomacy doctrine. A Diaspora Investment Fund. A Nigeria that commands respect because it is strong at home.

The Rescue Call

The NRM's core principles are unshakeable:

  • Political power to serve God and humanity
  • Politics of ideas against thuggery and manipulation
  • Credibility and character against corruption and deceit
  • Selfless service against selfish ambition
  • Reconstruction and reform against destruction and decay
  • Respect for the rule of law against impunity and lawlessness
  • National integration against ethnic and religious division
  • Shared prosperity against stagnation and inequality
  • Respect for the ordinary citizen against elitist patronage

This is what separates the NRM from the parties that have governed Nigeria since 1999.

The Chairman's Charge to Every Candidate

Prince Dr. Obi, speaking on the release of INEC's final list, made clear what is expected of every NRM candidate:

"Let this be clear: the NRM is not a party of defectors or a vehicle for political convenience. We are a movement of Nigerians who believe that the rescue of this country is a task that must be done by people who are prepared to serve, and serve with integrity. Every one of our candidates on that list stands on the same value proposition — Rule of Law for Peace, Productivity for Shared Prosperity."

He added: "The Nigerian people should not be asking who is big and who is small. They should be asking: what is this person presenting to us? What has he done before? What is his credibility? That is the standard against which every candidate on that list — including ours — should be judged."

Power Belongs to the People

The NRM enters 2027 not as an underdog, but as a truth-teller.

"The entire political class in Nigeria is less than 5% of the population," Obi has said repeatedly. "The remaining 95% is the Nigerian people. On election day, it is their votes that will count. Power belongs to the people — but only when the people take action."

The NRM's message is simple: nothing changes unless Nigerians vote for something different.

"If you believe Nigeria deserves better. If you are tired of corruption, division and false promises. If you still have faith in the power of good leadership — then join us," the Blueprint says. "Together, we can Rescue Nigeria, rebuild her moral foundation, and restore hope to generations to come."

What Happens Next

Every NRM candidate on INEC's final list has been directed to:

  1. Campaign on ideas, not insults.
  2. Publish a personal legislative agenda tied to the 24 Blueprint pillars.
  3. Commit to regular town halls — at least one per month in their constituency.
  4. Sign the NRM Integrity Charter, binding them to transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption.
  5. Report quarterly on their legislative and constituency work.

The NRM is not merely contesting seats. We are modelling a different way of doing politics.
